Movie Review: Raqt (2013)

Story: An adopted daughter craves for undivided attention and love from her mother. Turns out she has a psychological disorder. Review: Raqt is a disaster. If it doesn't give you a throbbing headache, you deserve a medal for putting up with utter crap in the name of cinema. The film is loaded with terrible dubbing, out of focus scenes, sleazy songs, tacky dialogues, horrible outfits, a dumb story and pathetic direction. If you must know the story - Sonia (Sweta Bharadwaj) is an actress who adopts her niece Suhani ( Sheena Shahabadi), as her mother dies in an accident. Sonia adores Suhani but the latter fears if Sonia falls in love with anyone else, she might send her away to a boarding school. In no mood to share her mother's affection, she kills everyone who comes between them. Strangely, the mother has no clue about the happenings and is not suspicious of her daughter's behaviour. Thus, many more get killed and the film goes on forever, leading to nowhere. Almost everything about the film is annoying and appalling at the same time. The mother-daughter bond looks like a joke. Farida Jalal plays the role of a maid and because she happens to be 'Maria', she speaks in that cliched Bollywood Christianised-Hindi. "Tum karne ko mangta, bachcha baby, bada baby." "You know how it works in Hollywood" tells a director to an actress, a woman shows off her cleavage and says, "Objects are bigger from inside than they appear outside", etc. There is also this cringeworthy 'lesbian' scene which grosses you out. Shakti Kapoor plays the role of a noble priest and that evokes laughter for obvious reasons. Performances are as lame.

Movie Review: Prague (2013)

Story: Moods, delusions, fantasies and fear...this film follows the complexities of an architect's psyche as he moves to Prague for a project. Review: If you are the type who looks for reasons and answers in a story, Prague is not for you. It doesn't have an agenda, per se, nor is it easy to comprehend. It's free-floating, erratic, pensive and sombre, just like its protagonist's mind. The mood is kept melancholic as the camera follows an architect (Chandan Roy Sanyal) who keeps wandering around, attending to his random thoughts. More than a conversation, his every dialogue is him thinking aloud. The dark, non-linear storytelling helps build a psychological tension throughout, making you feel as if you are being sucked into a black hole, with no way out. If you are patient enough to appreciate and observe the intricacies of Chandan's behaviour, Prague won't disappoint you. What we particularly liked about the film was its layering. The film is structured beautifully. It's atmospheric, unique and manages to hold your attention with its abstract imagery. However, for the impatient ones, finding method in the lead character's madness could get painful, especially since the film is a tad confused and sluggish. A few lines could also offend women. What particularly made us cringe was a 'casual scene', where a guy asks a girl to pronounce the Hindi word for thigh. Performances and cinematography are impressive. The Czech capital has been captured beautifully and so are romantic glances and flirtatious advances. Chandan Roy Sanyal is impactful and the very pleasant Elena Kazan makes her presence felt. More than the city, Prague, the film, is about Chandan's psychological struggle, haunting past and inconsistent behaviour. It's not for everyone. However, if you prefer unconventional, mysterious drama over mainstream entertainment, Prague will engage you.

Surrogacy case: SRK seeks dismissal of plea

Actor Shahrukh Khan has sought dismissal of a petition filed by social activist Varsha Deshpande seeking early hearing of the complaint filed by her in a magistrate court seeking action against him for sex determination of their third surrogate child. Shahrukh's lawyer Pranav Badhekar on September 26 requested the Bombay High Court to dismiss the petition on the ground that neither Deshpande nor her lawyers were present in the magistrate court when the matter was posted for arguments on September 24. Deshpande had filed a complaint in the magistrate court seeking action against Shahrukh Khan, his wife Gauri, Jaslok hospital and its doctor and officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act. Deshpande had alleged that the star couple had conducted pre-birth sex determination tests of their surrogate son AbRam. Deshpande had approached the High Court seeking an early hearing into her complaint on the ground that the Supreme Court had said that all cases under the PCPNDT Act should be heard and decided within six months. "In the magistrate court all the respondents filed their replies on September 20 and the matter was kept for arguments on September 24. However, on that day no one was present on behalf of the complainant and the matter was adjourned," Shahrukh's lawyer Badhekar told the court. Seeking dismissal of the petition, Badhekar and BMC lawyer M P S Rao said that the petition has become infructuous and need not be entertained. Justice Jadhav directed Badhekar to file a short affidavit by September 30 bringing this on record and also the order passed by the magistrate court on September 24 adjourning the hearing. The civic body had earlier told the court that it had conducted an inquiry into the allegations of sex determination and found it baseless. SP GK RCJ

And the next joining the bandwagon is Sonam Kapoor. Yes, you read it right. Sonam, who had admitted that she doesn’t have a bikini bod, is gearing up to set the silver screen ablaze in a two-piece. In the remake of ‘Khoobsurat’, which originally starred the sultry Rekha, Sonam will shed her inhibitions. The film in question will be produced by her sibling Rhea Kapoor. Unlike the 1980s super-hit classic, the new age ‘Khoobsoorat’ will see Sonam in a bold avatar. Her character in the film is far from that of Rekha’s in the Hrishikesh Mukherjee film. Reportedly, Sonam is following a strict diet chart to watch her weight so that she is able to carry her new look to perfection. The film is slated to go on floors this November.

No skin show for Bollywood heroines

It would be hard to find a hot-blooded male who doesn’t remember Halle Berry’s coral bikini scene in the James Bond-hit Die Another Day (2002) or Jennifer Aniston going full monty in The Good Girl (2002). Demi Moore’s topless act in Striptease (1996) and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) sketching Rose’s (Kate Winslet) nude portrait in Titanic (1997) are scenes that remain etched in the audience’s memory decades after their respective films released. What remains common between these actors is that they were either married or in committed relationships while shooting these scenes. Single or not, doing bold scenes is no big deal for the leading ladies of Hollywood. However, in India, there’s a different story to tell. Too much skin? For instance, though Kareena Kapoor Khan continues to maintain in her recent interviews that she doesn’t mind doing intimate scenes or sporting a bikini if the script demands, she has reportedly rejected director Tigmanshu Dhulia's forthcoming film, Begum Samru, as it contained a lot of body exposure. “I don’t think any of the top actresses in our country would be comfortable with the nudity in the film,” Dhulia was quoted saying in an interview to a daily. The director had also approached Rani Mukerji for the role of an 18th century nautch girl. However, Rani, who too is in a committed relationship for years now with filmmaker Aditya Chopra, rejected his offer. Dejected, the filmmaker is looking for an international actor for the role. However, married or committed actors not agreeing to do bold scenes is not new in Bollywood. In 2006, Amitabh Bachchan had reportedly asked for a kissing scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan to be axed as the former Miss World was by then already engaged to his son Abhishek. Aishwarya has since neither donned a bikini nor done any intimate scene in any of her films. Similarly, post her wedding in 1999, Madhuri Dixit, once known to scorch the screen with numbers like ‘Dhak dhak’ and ‘Choli ke peeche’, has not attempted any risqué acts. But whether or not she will be seen in a bold avatar in her forthcoming film, Dedh Ishqiya, remains to be seen. Not scared But every rule has an exception and that is true here as well with actors like Vidya Balan and Chitrangda Singh. While the much-married Chitrangada was seen in intimate scenes in her debut film, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005), Vidya too had no qualms doing bold scenes in her first release post her wedding. Ghanchakkar, which released in June this year, saw a lot of bold banter between the actor and the film’s male lead Emraan Hashmi.

Will Asif Azim add some spice to the show?: Bigg Boss 7

Asif entered the Bigg Boss house yesterday as the first wild card entry of this season So we witnessed a dramatic wild card entry in yesterday’s episode of Bigg Boss 7 with supermodel Asif Azim of Bangaldeshi origin coming out of the swimming pool wearing nothing but only small black trunks. We are sure that after looking at him, all the gals in the house must have gone ooh la la. But will Asif add some zing to the show? We don’t know yet but we surely know about what happened when Asif entered the mad cap house. Tonight’s episode will mark the first day for Asif in the Bigg Boss house and he will be seen mingling with the other inmates. To make Asif familiar with other members of the house, Bigg Boss will give a task to the housemates where every member in the house has to tag the other housemate on the basis of characteristics written on a card. Later, the person who has been tagged needs to guess the name of the housemate who gave him/her that tag. Bigg Boss will give the responsibility to Tanishaa to lead this session and ensure that everybody read about their name tags. While the session will be in full swing, it will get more interesting when Kamya will tag Gauahar as jhoothi (liar). Now Gauhar is not from those people who will get insulted without saying anything, right? She will question Kamya about the reason for tagging her as a jhoothi. Kamya will remind her about the argument over the swap nomination which is why she called her a liar. Gauahar will not appreciate Kamya’s behavior. However, Tanishaa will act as the peacemaker and will take the session ahead. Now, we don’t know about Asif but Kamya and Gauhar are surely adding a lot of spice to the show.

'Bigg Boss 7' diaries day 12: Tanishaa Mukerji made captain again, Armaan Kohli heartbroken

The house is already divided in groups and people are picking their sides, who will in the battle, only time will tell. Asif Azim makes buddies The new entrant in the Bigg Boss house Asif Azim seems to have added more enthusiasm to the show on his very first day. In the morning, when Kushal Tandon and Gauhar Khan are chatting, Asif starts bonding with them, he also tries to mingle with the hell-mates. Asif, Kushal and Gauhar talks and get to know each other; they share laughs and lots of gossip. Kamya Punjabi and Pratyusha Banerjee, who are watching the whole thing are seen goissping about the trio and anticipating them to be the next big players in the game. Sangram Singh seems to have found peace on the hell side and is seen teaching yoga to the Jahannumwasis. Tanishaa wins against Armaan Later in the day, Bigg Boss calls Asif in the confession room and asks him to nominate two Jannat wasis who are capable of taking on the role of the captain. Based on his interaction with the housemates, Asif announces the Tanishaa and Armaan’s names. Unlike last week, Bigg Boss allows the Jahannum-ites to choose a captain through a ballet system. Unfortunately for Armaan, Tanishaa gets the maximum votes and becomes the captain for the second consecutive time. Mr Kohli get upset with the decision and argues that everybody should get a fair chance to become captain. The new luxury budget In the afternoon, the housemates get together to discuss the luxury budget. Bigg Boss announces that only hell mates are allowed to choose their needs. In addition to that, they have a right to demand for the things that they have chosen in the luxury budget at any given time in the day. In the evening, Bigg Boss asks the heaven-mates to make a wish at the wishing wall. Kamya Punjabi cries Kamya is called in the confession room by Bigg Boss to share her feelings regarding the show down she had with Gauhar. Kamya explains that Gauhar had played politics and that is bothering her. She later bursts out into tears remembering her daughter. Bigg Boss assures her that her daughter is fine and doing great. Tag an attribute The day comes to end with Bigg Boss assigning Shilpa Agnihotri to get all the housemates together and make them perform a task to introduce Asif to the other housemates. According to the task, every member in the house has to tag another housemate based on the characteristics written on a card. Later, the person who has been tagged needs to guess the name of the housemate who gave him/her that tag. Tanishaa leads this session and ensures that everybody gets a fair chance. During this session, Kamya lashes out at Gauhar and tags her as ‘Jhoothi’. She connects this back to their argument regarding the swap and blames her over and over again to have lied to them about nominations.

From Boom to Dhoom: Katrina Kaif's best movies

The common man’s dream girl and on every filmmakers' wishlist, actor Katrina Kaif's journey to what and where she is today is no less than a fairy tale. The Hong Kong born girl travelled across the globe and landed with small modelling assignments in London. She even walked the ramp for the London Fashion Week, and it’s there that she caught the attention of London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who eventually paved her Bollywood entry through the erotic flick Boom in September 2003. It’s a different story though that the actor regrets having ever acted in that film but what followed was a slew of hits and sustained success for the last 10 years — a feat that few in this industry can boast of. One of the highest paid actors of our times, she has worked with all the top actors including the Khans of Bollywood. The 30-year-old has recently finished shooting for the third installment of the hit Dhoom franchise, Dhoom 3, along side Aamir Khan. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) After a slew of flops including a few unsuccessful regional attempts, Kat’s career finally got the much needed kick—start when her supposed godfather in the film industry, Salman Khan took the reins of her career in his hand. He got her to act alongside him in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. The film got a moderate response at the box office but Katrina did finally manage to draw those much-needed eyeballs. Namastey London (2007) The year 2007 was the turning point in Katrina’s career as she delivered four back—to— back hits including Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome. Kaif’s performance in Vipul Shah's romantic comedy Namastey London, where she played the role of a spoilt British Indian girl not only attracted positive reviews but also introduced the audience to her sizzling hot chemistry with Akshay Kumar. Welcome (2007) Though failing to garner much critical acclaim, this Anees Bazmee film was a huge box office hit, adding yet another feather to Kat’s cap. It earned around `1.16 billion worldwide. Noted film critic Taran Adarsh wrote that even though the film is male-centric, “Katrina gives to her role the freshness that it demands” and that she looked “bewitching”. Katrina Kaif had finally arrived. Sing Is Kinng (2008) Cashing in on the chemistry between Kat and Akshay Kumar, the very next year Anees Bazmee once again paired Katrina and Akshay in his action comedy. Singh Is Kinng became one of the biggest Bollywood grossers of all times. This was her fourth film with Akshay (before Namastey London and Welcome, she had acted with him in Raj Kanwar’s Humko Deewana Kar Gaye in 2006 that bombed at the box office). Katrina’s performance got mixed reviews to the extent that some called her an “eye sore” while others hailed her as “hot and ravishing”. The film raked big revenues at the box office, adding one more hit to Kat's list. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) This Rajkumar Santoshi film — her first with Ranbir Kapoor — was certainly another turning point in Kat’s life. Well, that is if the rumours about her alleged affair with the Kapoor scion is anything to go by! In fact buzz is that Katrina got so cosy with her co—star on the sets of this comedy flick that it ultimately brought about a rift in her relationship with her then alleged beau Salman Khan. Rumour mills aside, her fresh pairing with the Kapoor lad was lauded by all— the critics and the audience. The film emerged as a blockbuster hit that year. Raajneeti (2010) So far only known to grace the typical Bollywood masala films, Katrina finally grabbed a role in National Award winning, filmmaker Prakash Jha’s political thriller, Raajneeti, alongside Ranbir Kapoor. Adding fuel to rumours about the duo’s alleged affair, while this film finally put an end to the Katrina-Salman relationship (who continued to remained friends though), Kat’s portrayal of a widowed politician in a stark contrast to the sing—song roles that she had been playing so far was admired by one and all. The film fared well at the box office. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) By now Katrina was already being counted as one of the top league stars of Bollywood. She was paired with Hrithik Roshan for the first time in this Zoya Akhtar film that turned out to be a huge hit, winning multiple awards. Talking about Kaif, film critic Rajeev Masand wrote in his review, “She (Katrina) brings a charming, lovely touch to her role.” Indeed, Kat brought certain freshness to the character of Laila as a carefree, fun-loving diving instructor and it was for her till date much criticised accent that lent her character the realistic touch, winning her accolades. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) Kat was quick to get a Yash Raj film next, alongside actors Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. She played the role of a fun-loving punk-rock girl Dimple Dixit and her power-packed performance won such rave reviews that people said that the film entirely “belonged to Katrina.” It was indeed Kaif who surpassed the male leads in terms of performance and infused a brilliant dose of energy into the film that went on to gross brilliantly at the box office. Ek Tha Tiger (2011) Shutting rumour mills Katrina Kaif once again paired up on screen with her Bollywood godfather and ex — Salman Khan and needless to say, broke all box office records with this film, last year. Sallu played the role of an Indian spy besotted by Zoya, an ISI agent in disguise played by Kat. Ek tha Tiger became the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of all times. Though an out— an—out Salman film, Kat was recognised for more than just being a muse. “Katrina Kaif holds her own in a film that has been sold all along as a toast to its hero,”wrote film critic Vinayak Chakravorty. Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) Getting to play an‘Yash Chopra heroine’ has always been the dream of all Bollywood actors, and Kat’s hard work did pay off. Possibly the biggest milestone of her career till date, Katrina acted as the lead in legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's swan song, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, alongside none other than Shah Rukh Khan. In fact Jab Tak Hai Jaan emerged as the fourth-highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time overseas. Talking about Katrina’s performance, film critic Saibal Chatterjee wrote, “Katrina plays the grounded Meera with assurance... the actress lets herself go and makes an impression.” Rajiv Masand too joined in the praise—wagon saying, “Katrina Kaif looks ethereally beautiful.”

John Abraham to produce a sports film

After winning critical acclaim for his last release, Madras Cafe, based on the Sri Lankan civil war, actor-producer John Abraham is now taking his interest in sports forward by planning to make films on football, motorcycling and boxing. "We are making a film on sports... Shoojit has quite a few ideas. The only thing I could reveal is the film is about football, it is based on that. We are still in development stage and we will make an announcement on it," John told PTI in an interview here. "No, it is not a biopic on any sports personality but it is based on a true story. It is amazing, adventurous, commercial and will be fun to watch for the audience," he said. There are other areas of sports as well that the 40-year-old actor wants to explore through films. "Besides this, there are two-three films on sports as that is my area of interest. And one is on motorcycling, that we have started scripting, the other is in space of contact sports (meaning boxing, wrestling etc)," John said. Ask him if he would be acting in these projects the reply seems affirmative. "I don't know that yet. I think in all probability I will be the first choice for my own production for these films. Then we will look out for others," he added. Post the success of his two home production films Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe John insists he will make sure the next film will be even better. Madras Cafe was a spy thriller, which traced the political and military histories of the neighbours and covered the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Lankan rebel group LTTE's activities through the eye of an agent, played by John. "The film did not have a typical Bollywood song, dance hero and it did half the business of a successful film. This shows there is audience who want to watch these kinds of films as well. "This segment of audience will grow as the youth is getting more and more aware. I want to create that kind of new and entertaining cinema as a producer and actor," John said. He says the audience has proved that they are open to see qualitative cinema. By accepting Madras Cafe they have substantiated their liking towards this space of cinema... I respect the audience. I have always said audience is my god father but today I feel they are hero of my films, he adds. John also said that he is happy to see that the attitude of the film industry towards him has changed now. "I think the film that began changing things was Force, then I had hit films like Desi Boyz, Housefull 2, Shootout at Wadala, Race 2 and now Madras Cafe. I think Madras Cafe has changed people's perception completely about me... it has done a completely 360 degree turn," John said. "People look at me in a completely different light. I would like them to know that this is how I always was... it is only that I gave myself an opportunity as a producer to do it finally," he said. The actor-producer is busy shooting Welcome Back and Dostana 2 and is also looking forward to begin his third production tentatively titled Hamara Bajaj.

Movie Preview: Warning (2013)

Director: Gurmeet Singh Producer: Anubhav Sinha, Jitendra Jain Cast: Santosh Barmola, Suzana Rodrigues, Manjari Fadnis, Varun Sharma, Jitin Gulati, Sumit Suri, Madhurima Tuli Plot: Anubhav Sinha’s Warning is all about one thing and one thing only – Survival. The story is about a gang of friends getting together to have some fun and what turns out to be something they never expected and which is extremely horrendous. The movie is basically a blatant rip-off of the Hollywood thriller ‘Open Sea 2′ and maybe would’ve looked good if the cast worked on their acting instead of showing off their chiseled bodies. The movie starts with a guy reminiscing about his school times, decides to contact his friends and plan a sea adventure. And then we see the whole group re-uniting at Tanveer’s (Santosh Barmola) yacht in Fiji. Everyone looks very elated with the trip until they realize none of them remembered to lower the ladder from the yacht, which is the only way to get back onto the yacht. And soon the conditions get worse and their sea adventure becomes a survival test. The first half is a little tolerable but the second half is simply made for a good sleep. The 3D format of the film is terrible and only adds to the misery. This thriller is better left alone and may it drift into the unforgiving world of pirated DVDs. But if you really need to go to the cinemas then any other movie would atleast guarantee you a ‘happy ending’. So, take a hint from the title of the film and you’re at your own risk!

Aamir Khan’s promotion strategy, Revealed for Dhoom 3

Dhoom 3 is definitely one of the most awaited films of this year, and having the perfectionist Aamir Khan playing a pivotal role, the film has to be nothing less than a superhit. The first trailer of Dhoom 3 is already out and has garnered a lot of attention. The promotions haven’t yet started, but it is obvious that the makers are all set to go on a promotional overdose spree. Well, if you thought so, then here is some news. Apparently, the perfectionist is planning to go very slow and easy on the films promotions, as he wants the film and it’s collections to do the talking. The actor feels, dancing in malls and and appearing on reality shows is against his stature. Meanwhile, Mr Perfectionist is being extremely cautious about the film’s script, so much so that he didn’t even allow it to be printed. A source close to the project reveal that, the entire screenplay is available to just two people – in director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s and Aamir Khan’s ipad. Even the cast of the film – Katrina Kaif and Abhishek Bachchan were not allowed to get their hands on it. Well, with so much of security, our curiosity is rising higher and only higher.

Why is Ranbir not promotig "Besharam" on Salman's "Bigg Boss"?

Did Katrina Kaif stop Ranbir Kapoor from promoting Besharam on Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 7? Ranbir Kapoor has refused to go on Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 7. One of the highly watched reality shows on television is what the makers of Besharam wanted to cash on, but their film’s hero doesn’t want to share the stage with the most wanted Khan. Apparently RK is aware about Sallu’s antics on the show and how Sallu gets his star guests red faced on his show – Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor or even his current girlfriend who was Salman’s ex Katrina Kaif hasn’t been spared of this embarrassment. Guess, this is why RK wants to stay away from this stage. After all he might not be sure if Sallu will show his hell or heaven side to the Besharam actor. While it’s natural to speculate that Ranboo would not wanna face Salman especially after the bikini pictures, wethinks there’s more to what meets the eye. We know about ex’s and their currents avoiding each other theory, but we also hear that Jr Kapoor wants a day off from work on his birthday on September 28. This also happens to be the day when Bigg Boss 7 team shoots the eviction episode. Now who do you think RK would wanna spend his special day with, obviously not his current’s ex right? After denying birthday plans and saying that he would be busy working on his special day, chuparustam RK has a surprise up his sleeve it seems. What’s your guess peeps – A private date with Katrina or a big bash with B-towners in attendance and his ladylove Katrina by his side? As for Ranbir’s loss has turned out to be Anil Kapoor’s gain, as AK will promote his upcoming television series 24 on Salman’s show. So ready are you guys ready some dhasu entertainment on the Bigg Boss stage and outside as well? Let’s see who fares better RK-Kat or then Salman and his No Entry co-star Anil!

Goa says no to Sachin, Deepika and Kareena

Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, all queued up to become brand ambassadors for Goa but the state does not need any star power to promote itself, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar told reporters on Wednesday. Parulekar said Goa was already a celebrity in its own right and there was no need to hunt for brand ambassadors for publicity. “We have received proposals from marketing agencies that represent actress Deepika Padukone, Sachin Tendulkar or Kareena Kapoor and her husband Saif (Ali Khan), to sign them up as Brand Ambassadors for Goa,” Parulekar said. But he said the state government was not keen on roping in any celebrity as a brand ambassador to promote Goa. “Our image is such that any tourist will choose Goa over other destinations,” Parulekar said. Goa had experimented with hiring brand ambassadors for the tourist destination when they roped in starlet Prachi Desai as brand ambassador a couple of years back.

Arman unhappy as Tanisha becomes captain again

The new entrant in the Bigg Boss house Asif Azim seems to have added more enthusiasm to the show on his very first day. In the morning, when Kushal and Gauahar are chatting in the morning, Asif starts chit chatting with them and tries to mingle with the hell-mates as well. Asif, Kushal and Gauahar jelled up fast and started hanging out together. Kamya and Pratyusha are seen talking about this triad and anticipating them to be the next players. Sangram seems to have found peace on the hell side and is seen teaching yoga to the Jahannumwasis. Later in the day, Bigg Boss calls Asif in the confession room and asks him to nominate two Jannat wasis who are capable of taking on the role of the captain. Basis his interaction with the housemates, Asif announces the names of Tanisha and Armaan. Unlike last week, Bigg Boss allows the Jahannum-ites to choose a captain through a ballet system. Tanisha gets the maximum votes and becomes the captain for the second consecutive time. Arman seems to be unhappy with this decision and believes that everybody should get a fair chance to become a captain. In the afternoon, the housemates get together to discuss the luxury budget. Bigg Boss later announces that only hell mates are allowed to choose their needs. Also, they have a right to demand for the things that they have chosen in the luxury budget at any given time. Kamaya was called in the confession room by Bigg Boss to share her feelings regarding the issue show down she had with Gauahar. Kamya explains that Gauahar has played politics and this is what has been bothering her. She later bursts out into tears remembering her daughter. Bigg Boss assures her that her daughter is fine and doing great. The day comes to end with Bigg Boss assigning Shilpa to get all the housemates together and get them to perform task to introduce Asif to the other housemates. According to the task, every member in the house has to tag other housemate basis characteristics written on a card. 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' will be shot on 'Bigg Boss' sets

Ever since news about fire on the sets of Kapil Sharma's show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' broke, everyone has been wondering about the new location where the shooting will take place. Well, here's the answer! According to some reliable sources we hear, that the shooting of the comedy show will now take place on the sets of Bigg Boss 7's Weekend Ka Wow. Sources inform that the Channel (Colors) and the production team of Comedy Nights with Kapil produced by K9 (Kapil Sharma Productions) has been looking out for an alternative set to shoot the upcoming episodes of the comedy show and finally they have decided to shoot on Bigg Boss sets located at Lonavla. When contacted, Ali Asgar who plays Dadi on the show confirmed, "We will be shooting the upcoming episodes of our show on Bigg Boss' sets. Whatever happened was unfortunate but the show must go on and we are ready to bring smiles on the faces of the audiences' once again." On being asked about Kapil, Ali said, "Kapil is a very brave man, he knows he's the captain of the ship and I am sure he will come out of these difficult times. God has been very kind to show us the path and, by his grace, fortunately no one got injured in the mishap." When asked will they now modify the script keeping the new set in mind, the actor said, "I have no clarity on this. As of now, I only know that we will be shooting on the Bigg Boss sets."

A 63 year old groom for Mallika Sherawat

Whoever thought that Bollywood sex siren Mallika Sherawat only has the youth as her fans, need a reality check. The actress, who will soon embark on a journey to find her Prince Charming on the small screen, is drawing attention from all age groups. From what sources have to tell us, a 63-year-old man from Hyderabad, who, hold your breath, was her teacher, has also applied for the show. Says a source associated with the show, "Sudarshan is quite ecstatic about his entry in the show and making it to the top 30. He is currently in Udaipur and seems confident that he will have a long haul. He also happens to be Mallika's teacher." Despite repeated attempts, we couldn't reach Sudarshan for comment. The show will launch on October 7. It will be judged by actor Rohit Roy.

Krrish 3 to release on Monday instead of open Friday Slot

An increasing number of films are being released on other days of the week too, provided they fall on certain public holidays Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan’s mega budget film Krrish 3 has a Friday slot open for it, but the father-son duo have decided to release it on a Monday (November 4) instead. Rakesh Roshan, producer and director of the superhero franchise, explains, “Friday, Saturday and Sunday before Diwali are definitely not good days to release a film as the collections are generally not up to the mark. It picks up after Diwali as the festivities continue, so we’ve decided to release our film on Monday.” He isn’t the first producer to take such a decision. Traditionally, films in Bollywood release on a Friday (given the numbers the approaching weekend could rake in). Of late, however, quite a few films have been hitting theatres on other days of the week too, provided of course they coincide with a public holiday in India. Salman Khan’s Bodyguard and Shah Rukh Khan’s RA.One released on a Wednesday, whereas Hrithik’s Agneepath released on a Thursday, followed by SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar on a Tuesday. Next week, Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam will hit theatres on October 2 (Wednesday), which falls on Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. Says Utpal Acharya, country head – distribution and acquisitions, Reliance Entertainment, “With corporatisation, the film business is now dictated by the same commerce and economics that drive other organised sectors. Irrespective of whether it is a Friday, there are seven main days — Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day, Republic Day and the first Friday post-IPL — much wanted for film releases.” Needless to say, many of the movies mentioned above broke records at the box office including Ek Tha Tiger, which touched around 130 crores within a week, and RA.One, which garnered around 85 crores over the ‘five-day’ weekend. However, there is a downside to this strategy also. To begin with, not all holidays are close to the weekend. So, if the response to a film is not up to the mark over the next few working days, the collections fall, and then even the weekend advantage is frittered away. Case in point — Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which barely managed to cross 100 crore in lifetime collection. Similarly, collections of the Ajay Devgn — Sanjay Dutt starrer Rascals, which released on Dussehra (Thursday), fell on Friday and continued to dip over the weekend. “This strategy only helps a good film. A bad film will not work irrespective of the holidays,” says Roshan.
