Karan Kundra: I Aim to

Kitani Mohabbat Hai star Karan Kundra is not worried about being compared to other TV actors entering Bollywood and rather aims to compete with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Karan, 29, who made his Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt's Horror Story, feels that there is no contest between him and his contemporaries on TV.

"I don't feel any competition with TV actors because I am already at par with them. In fact, I want to make myself able enough to compete with the Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in the industry. That's my aim," Karan told PTI.

The small screen has seen many of its popular faces like Sushant Singh Rajput, Jay Bhanushali and Sidharth Shukla transitioning to Bollywood in recent times. (Also read: Karan Kundra "Really Happy" to Play Vampire in Serial)

Karan, however, says he will continue to juggle between the two mediums.

The actor, who was last seen on TV in reality show Gumraah, is returning to fiction with a love story Fannah, where he plays the role of a vampire. He will also be seen in Dil Phire.

"This is a cool show and the role is very real. The time is of real characters, no one wants to watch nice and good people. My role has negative shades and is more relatable," he said.

The MTV show is a finite series of six months and might have more seasons if the first one works. (Also read: Karan Kundra: This is the right time to debut in films)

The actor, who is currently shooting for a Punjabi film, finds the concept of fixed duration shows great and thinks daily soaps are not cool anymore.

"Fannah is not a daily soap. Daily soaps are uncool and hectic. I like having time for myself. Actors on TV don't have a life, they only work, this is something I can't do and as I also do films, a finite series is manageable for me," he said.

For Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, it's Destination Corsica

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is reportedly booking a flight to Corsica and the main attraction on the French island will be not the blue waters of the Mediterranean but the presence of rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone who is shooting there for her movie Tamasha.

Ranveer is shooting a commercial in Bucharest but will come home the long way round, having taken a detour to be with his alleged love interest.(Also read: Ranbir Kapoor's Birthday Surprise for Katrina Kaif )

Only recently, Deepika's Tamasha co-star Ranbir Singh received a flying visit from his rumoured girlfriend Katrina Kaif who jetted to Corsica to spend her birthday with him.

Salman Khan: Holiday Season Does Matter a Lot for Releases

Salman Khan, who chooses festive seasons to release his mega movies, continues the trend with Kick, which is coming out on the Eid weekend. He believes choosing the right slot is important from business perspective.

He said: "Be it Eid or Diwali, the holiday season matters a lot. There is no (big) release during Ramadan, so when a film releases during this period (Eid), people throng to the theatres to see that film. Again with Diwali being a festive season, people want to go and see the film with family."

In the last few years, Salman has earmarked Eid for his mega releases and most of them turned out to be bumper hits. His Kick, which marks the directorial debut of Sajid Nadiadwala, will hit the screens July 25. (Also Read: Salman's Eid Connection)

Usually one big movie releases on each festival, but Salman is of the view that "Festivals like Diwali, Holi, Republic Day and Christmas can accommodate three to four films."

Aamir to Play Peacemaker Between Salman and Photographers?

Aamir Khan, who recently made a public appearance in support of his daughter Ira's charity football match, is said to have had a word with photographers over their ongoing ban on his friend, Salman Khan. (Also Read: No Provision to Ban Anyone: Salman Khan on Paparazzi Boycott)

A source says, "On Sunday, Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez had attended the match. However, most of photographers covering the event didn't take his pictures. Later on, once Salman stepped away from the group, the photographers took snaps of everyone else."

On his part, Salman has gone on record to say that it is the photographers' choice if they want to click his pictures or not. In fact, at the last few promotional events for his film, Kick, he is said to have made snide remarks about photographers. However, Aamir seems to have decided to look into the matter.

A source says, "While interacting with media, Aamir got to know about photographers' ongoing ban on Salman and he had a word with the lensmen. He has apparently promised them that he will try talking to Salman and see what he can do to resolve the issue."

Interestingly, after the match, Salman hugged Abhishek Bachchan. Photographers present at the event chose to not to photograph the duo hugging each other.

Aamir's spokesperson was unavailable for comment.

Salman Khan on Nargis Fakhri: Why So Much Negativity About Her?

Salman Khan, known for promoting newcomers in Bollywood, has given Nargis Fakhiri an opportunity to feature in a song in his movie Kick and feels that mindset about the "pretty and outstanding dancer" is baseless.

"Nargis has done a song in the film, which is outstandingly great. I really like her, her energy is great, and I think she will benefit a lot with the song," said Salman.

"I don't know why there was so much negativity about Nargis earlier. I think she is a very pretty girl, an outstanding dancer and a lovely person to work with. She has got a great sense of humour," he added.

The direction debut of Sajid Nadiadwala, Kick is set for release on July 25 and the superstar will romance Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez in the action drama.

Drawing a comparison between Nargis and his on-screen leading lady Jacqueline, Salman pointed out the similarities between them.

"Both are very spontaneous and chilled out, they are like the girls-next-door. Jacqueline has got this film only because of her hard work and everyone deserves a second chance. Jacqueline was the best choice. We are grateful that she did the film."

The New Man in Sonam Kapoor's Life

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has found herself in some pretty Khoobsurat company for her next film. Sonam's Prince Charming is Pakistani heartthrob actor Fawad Khan, who already seems to have a fan base in India judging from the reactions on Twitter. So, just who is Fawad Khan? Well, he started out as a singer in Pakistan in the group Entity Paradigm and then went on to become a highly successful actor in television serials Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. It seems that Fawad has made the cross-border transition to Bollywood rather smoothly, though playing the brooding foil to madcap Sonam couldn't have been easy.

Apart from Fawad, Khubsoorat also features heavyweight actors such as Ratna Pathak Shah, who seems to be in stellar form as a regal matriarch - a role she inherits from her mother Dina Pathak who played the stern disciplinarian in the original Hrishikesh Mukherjee hit. Kirron Kher, who plays Sonam's outspoken mother in the film, is also in fine fettle. Theatre star Aamir Raza Husain is also part of the supporting cast and plays a member of the royal family Sonam is thrown together with.

We're certainly getting a Princess Diaries feel from the movie and it seems that the Kapoors, including Sonam's sister Rhea and her father Anil, who have co-produced the film, have managed to court not just Prince Charming, but a very royal cast as well.

Pakistani Actor Fawad Khan on Bollywood Debut: Art Travels Across Borders

Fawad Afzal Khan, one of the most popular Pakistani singer-actors, has drawn flak back home for his decision to enter Bollywood. But he is unperturbed and says that art is something that travels across all borders.

He is making his debut with Khoobsurat, a remake of Hrishikesh Mukerji's 1980 hit of the same name, opposite Sonam Kapoor. But even before the film's release, Fawad has earned a huge fan following thanks to his show Zindagi Gulzar Hai, which was aired on Zindagi channel. When asked about his reaction on the criticism, he said, "The people you are talking about are very few. There will be people who will criticize. They are entitled to their opinion. Even if someone from India goes to work there, someone or the other will make noise."

"Art is something that travels across all borders. Art knows no culture and creed. As an actor, I would like to explore myself. I do feel bad, but I choose to ignore criticism. I think to pay attention to it is unnecessary," he told reporters on Monday at the trailer launch of Khoobsurat here.

Charming as ever, he wowed everyone when he sang the title song of his show Zindagi Gulzar Hai at the event.

Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Khoobsurat has been produced by Sonam's father Anil Kapoor and sister Rhea under the banner Anil Kapoor's Film Company Pvt Ltd. He said, "I think it's a very big honour for me to work with the family. When I met these people, I found them very interesting. Most of all, the way I was treated and welcomed was very kind and warm."

"So all in all, this has been a very interesting episode in my life. I had a lot of fun. There was a lot of love and warmth," he added.

Fawad praised Sonam for being "a very accommodating, very warm, and very welcoming person".

"I took time for settling in the new environment, but the entire team, the production, everyone made sure to make me feel comfortable," he said.

Releasing on September 19, the film sees Ratna Pathak stepping into the shoes of her mother Dina Pathak, who is still remembered for playing a disciplinarian and strict mother in the original.

Sonam Kapoor: I am Just an Actor, There's No Responsibility

Actress Sonam Kapoor on Monday unveiled the trailer of her forthcoming film Khoobsurat, and said the film's producer and director have "exposed me completely in this film".

The movie, which is a remake of 1980s super-hit film Khubsoorat that featured Rekha and Rakesh Roshan, has been directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Sonam's sister Rhea.

Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Afzal Khan will be seen as the male lead in the movie.

"There was no problem on the set because Rhea, Shashanka and the writer (Indira Bisht) knew me so well that very shamelessly they have taken every part of my personality and exposed me completely in the film," Sonam told reporters at the launch.

"I am just an actor, there's no responsibility. It's only Rhea and Shashanka's responsibility, I have only done acting and nothing else," said the 29-year-old actress.

"When I take on a job as an actor, I only concentrate on doing that, otherwise there is a conflict. You have to just do your best with what you have got," she said and added that when she starts thinking about the responsibilities, then she "won't be able to go to work next day in the morning".

In the recent past, Sonam has been part of hits like Raanjhanaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. However, her last release Bewakoofiyaan bombed at the box office.

Shashanka said that his version takes the story forward.

"Original was just a clash of values within the family and here we have taken it a little further but we have held on to the core idea," she added.

If Dina Pathak played a strict mother in the original, her daughter Ratna will be seen in the remake.

Rhea Chakraborty to Play Female Lead in Bank Chor

Actress Rhea Chakraborty has been signed up as the female lead of Y-Films' Bank Chor for a "cracker of a role" with Riteish Deshmukh. She says that she's excited about the "roller-coaster ride".

"Bank Chor is a roller-coaster ride and I'm delighted to be on it. I've had a blast with the team on Mere Dad Ki Maruti and I'm sure this is only going to be bigger and better," Rhea said in a statement. (Also read: VJ-turned-actress Rhea Chakraborty chased and groped )

The actress started her career as a video jockey and then made her big screen debut in 2013 with Mere Dad Ki Maruti. She was also seen opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in his single, O Heeriye.

Now, she will be seen in Bank Chor, produced by Yash Raj Films' banner Youth Films Division Y-Films, which also brought out Mere Dad Ki Maruti.

For the role, the makers "needed someone with spunk, who could be cute and hot at the same time besides speak 2,000 words per minute".

"Rhea speaks 8,000 words per minute in real life! She hit the ball out of the park on the other fronts as well and with her outrageous sense of humor she's gonna kill it," said Ashish Patil, business and creative head, Youth Films, brand partnerships and talent management at YRF.

Bank Chor is a comic-caper that tells the story of three morons trying to rob a bank who pick the worst day possible when everything that can go wrong, goes wrong, and how they're inadvertently caught in the crossfire of cops, industrialists and corrupt politicians. It is directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish.

Besides Bank Chor, Rhea has an exciting line-up of films. Up next is Rohan Sippy's Sonali Cable, in which she plays the titular role.

She will also be seen in UTV Spotboy's much awaited Babbu Ki Jawani. There are also more big announcements around the corner, one from YRF itself.

Notting Hill Editor to Edit Finding Fanny for Foreigners

Editor Nick Moore, popular for films like Notting Hill and Love Actually, has been roped in by Fox Star Studios to edit forthcoming film Finding Fanny for non-diaspora markets.

The makers believe that director Homi Adajania has made a global film that will be accepted in any market. (Also read: Finding Fanny Trailer Finds Over Million Views, Makers Happy )

"The difference between the two versions is just three-four minutes and not a complete re-edit. This English version will be cut by Nick Moore to cater to that audience," Mr Adajania said in a statement.

"It's the same story but will be told in a way that the firangs understand better," he added.

The Hindi and English versions of Finding Fanny will open in theatres on September 12 across India and in 40 international territories, which form the diaspora markets. (Also read: Finding Fanny Shoot Was Like an Acting Class: Arjun Kapoor )

The film is presented by Fox Star Studios, and there also are plans to release a separate edited version of Finding Fanny in non-diaspora markets - the US, Europe and the Far East - three to four months after its September release.

Ileana D'Cruz: I Hope Happy Ending Will Be a Hit

After the success of her last film Main Tera Hero, actress Ileana D'Cruz hopes that her next movie opposite Saif Ali Khan and Govinda titled Happy Ending will be appreciated by the audience. (Also read: Ileana D'Cruz: Exercise regularly to stay fit )

The romantic comedy has been directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. The film also features actors Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor, with the latter two in cameo roles.

"The shooting of Happy Ending is almost over. It is a great film. I had a great time shooting it. I hope that the film will do as good as we expect it to do," Ileana said.

The 25-year-old actress was the showstopper at the India Couture week on July 20 for designer Sulakshana Monga, who showcased a collection inspired by the bygone era of the British Empire and the Maharajas.

Ileana, who walked the ramp in a neon-pink saree with silver-toned blouse, said she was apprehensive about donning such bright colours on the ramp and needed a lot of persuasion from the designer to do so.

"Neon pink is not my colour. I was a little nervous about my outfit but Sulakshana convinced me and I finally agreed. I think it turned out pretty well considering the loud cheers that welcomed me on the ramp," the Barfi actress said.

The collection, titled Redefining Opulence, included floral prints on semi textured fabrics, all based in rich shades of silver, gold, ruby, pink and sapphire.

Actress Kirron Kher plays Sonam's mother Manju, equaling her on-screen daughter quirk for quirk. She helps Sonam navigate and survive the alien territory she finds herself in, via video chat.

The movie, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, is a remake of Hrishikesh Mukerjee's 1980 hit by the same name, starring Rekha.

Khoobsurat is slated to release on September 19.

Aamir Khan's Daughter Ira Organises Celebrity Football Match

Superstar Aamir Khan's daughter Ira organised a celebrity football match to raise funds for an animal welfare shelter.

The charity match was held on Sunday here for PIGI foundation, which will build an animal welfare shelter with the money.

Nuzhat Khan, actor Imran Khan's mother and Ira's aunt, will look into the shelter, read a statement.

Aamir and actor Abhishek Bachchan were captains of the two respective teams and the latter's team won the match by 4:2.

Celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sohail Khan, Imran Khan, Armaan Jain and Shabbir Ahluwalia were also part of the match.Also present were Aamir's wife Kiran Rao and their son Azad.

Shraddha Kapoor on Playing A Tragic Lover in Haider

Actress Shraddha Kapoor feels lucky to be a part of filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming project Haider at such an early stage of her career. (Also Read: Shraddha Kapoor Working Towards a Muscular Body for Remo D'Souza's ABCD 2)

Haider, an adaptation of Hamlet, completes Vishal's trilogy of William Shakespeare's tragedies after Macbeth and Othello and has a stellar star cast of Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan besides the actress.

"I still can't believe that I am a part of Vishal sir's Haider. It's such a surreal experience for me. I am lucky that he has given me this opportunity at such an early stage of my career.

"It has an ensemble starcast of veteran actors like Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan. I feel it's an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Shraddha, who is just four-films-old in the industry, told PTI.

In the film adaptation, Shraddha is playing Hamlet's tragic lover Ophelia.

"Vishal sir has adapted the play brilliantly with an Indian setting. I am playing a press reporter Arshia, who is am amalgamation of Shakespeare's Ophelia and Horatio (a friend to Hamlet). I read Hamlet in my school but I don't remember it well. Sir's (Vishal) script was enough to understand all these characters," she said.

After the success of Teri galliyan in Ek Villain, Shraddha has once again sung a Kashmiri folk song in Haider.

"Arshia is a Kasmiri girl and the role is different. I needed to understand the way a Kashmiri girl behaves and Vishal sir helped me with that. Tabu ma'am and I sang for the film but we didn't sing together," she said.

Anupam Kher's Surgery Postponed

Bipasha Basu: I Want an Elaborate Bengali Wedding

Although the 35-year-old actress, who is dating actor Harman Baweja, did not reveal any marriage plans, she said that she would love to have an elaborate wedding.

"I am from Bengal and when I get married I will definitely want a traditional Bengali bridal look. I want it to be very extravagant as well," Bipasha said.

The actress began dating Harman in 2012 after meeting him at Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday bash.

The model-turned-actress took to the ramp at the India Couture Week donning a very bridal rusty red, velvet Rohit Bal lehenga teamed with jewellery. "It is great to be back on the ramp in Delhi as I started my modelling career from here. I have always got a lot of love and warmth from the people here," she said.

Bipasha, who was last seen in Sajid Khan's Humshakals, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming thriller Creature, which will hit theatres on September 12.

She is currently filming Alone, in which she is paired opposite TV actor Karan Singh Grover.

Amitabh Bachchan: Difficult to Maintain Shamitabh Look

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared his intense look for his upcoming film Shamitabh. (Also read: Amitabh Bachchan Happy With Polio Eradication From India )

The 71-year-old actor, who will be seen in a rugged look with grey unkempt moustaches and beard, said it has become difficult to hide the get-up of the film from paparazzi.

"...that be the pensiveness from Shamitabh... It is getting exceedingly difficult to preserve a look for a film or occasion when we have millions of mobile cameras following us and immortalising us... Thank you," Mr Bachchan posted on his blog.

Mr Bachchan's look in the R Balki's directed film was already out on the social media last month.

The Bhoothnath Returns star said it was tough to maintain the look.

"Shamitabh in the day... It's quite an effort to live with that hair all day!!," Mr Bachchan, who is also lending his voice in the film, said.

This will be Mr Bachchan's third collaboration with director Balki after hits like Cheeni Kum and Paa, which also earned him his third National award.

The film, which was shot in Goa and Tamil Nadu, also stars Dhanush and Kamal Haasan's younger daughter Akshara.

Alia Bhatt Fell in Love with Shahid Kapoor at the Age of 11

Alia Bhatt, who has confirmed she has signed Vikas Bahl's Shaandar for a role with Shahid Kapoor, says she's a fan of the actor, whom she first fell in love with when she was all of 11. (Also Read: I am a Very Clumsy Human Being: Alia Bhatt)

"I'm a huge Shahid Kapoor fan. I must have been 11 years old when I went to see Shahid in Ishq Vishk at Gaiety Galaxy (in Mumbai). I've been a fan since then. He is a fabulous actor and from what I hear, a very supportive co-star," Alia said.

When we asked her if Shahid was a generation removed from most of the co-stars Alia had worked with so far, she corrected that by saying, "You forget I've done Highway with Randeep Hooda. But yes, that apart, I've so far worked with actors my own age. So there was a natural comfort level with them.

"But it's not like Shahid is any different from Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra. He is a very chilled-out guy. He has been around for so many years. I am sure he's a thorough professional. And I am really looking forward to working with him."

The actress, who was recently seen in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, admits there is plenty on the plate. But she isn't allowed to speak about them all yet. She is, however, excited about Shaandar.

"I'm very excited. I loved his (Vikas Bahl's) Queen. And I am really looking forward to what he does in the film with me," said the Highway actress.

Shaandar is to be shot in an undisclosed part of England later this year. Bahl's last film, the much-lauded Queen had been shot in Paris, one of Alia's favourite cities where she got a chance to holiday recently.

"I am very excited about this film. It's something I haven't done so far. I want to work with every major actor," she said.

Bipasha Basu, Chitrangada Singh Add Filmy Glamour to Couture Week Finale

A live performance by singer Kamaal Khan on popular Bollywood tracks, decor reflecting the golden period and actresses Bipasha Basu and Chitrangada Singh walking the ramp in true diva style, the grand finale by Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers as a part of India Couture Week 2014 turned out to be a complete Bollywood affair. While Chitrangada started the show in black voluminous Gauri and Nainika gown, accessorising it well with statement neckpiece, Bipasha looked no less than a bride in designer Rohit Bal lehanga and matching jewellery.

"Whenever I wear Indian outfit, I make sure I accessorise it well with jewellery and today I am feeling like a queen. I started my career as a model and it's great to come back to Delhi again and walk on ramp. It was such a great welcome that I felt emotional,a Bipasha shared after the show.

The actress, who was looking like a bride, was bombarded with questions on her wedding.

Asked that whether she would like to adorn the similar heavy pieces on her wedding day, she said, "I would love to look like a Bengali bride and I don't mind if I get the chance to wear such beautiful looking pieces. Afterall, every bride wants to look her best on the most special day of her life."

Chitrangada, on the other hand, took her inspiration from the famous Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe when she walked down the ramp.

"Yes I tried to replicate her (Marilyn) but it is not easy . Doing Marilyn is not easy for anyone. She was someone who has inspired many but I tried to give it my best," she said.

The show was mix of jewelleries from the Svara and Sondaraya collection of the title sponsor of the couture week. Pieces inlaid in gold and diamonds, embellished with precious stones such as emeralds, rubies and pearls, dominated the range of designs.

The Svara collection comprised of gold and polka jewellery embellished in precious stones such as emerald and ruby while Sondaraya was a variable mix of traditional motifs and contemporary styles in diamond jewellery.

Also seen walking the ramp was filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and model-actor Muzammil Ibrahim.

One of the highpoints of the show was live singing by Kamaal Khan who sung tracks including Afreen , Ishq Sufiana and Mein Tenu Samjhawan.
