Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is an upcoming 2014 Bollywood film. The film features Varun Dhawan as Rakesh Sharma (Humpty) and Alia Bhatt as Kavya Pratap Singh in lead roles. The film is produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan.The film will be released on 11 July 2014.

Unlike his name Humpty is fit, fun and carefree. A middle class Delhi boy, he is a ‘Jugadoo’ (Innocent Con) but with a heart. He has no ambition and no expectations from life.

He is happy to help his father in their University Book Store and drink away with his two best friends. But just like his namesake he does fall, he falls in Love.

He wears his heart on the sleeve and tackles all obstacles with a warm smile and happy heart.

Though from small town India, Ambala, Kavya has a contemporary attitude. She is ethnic yet fashionable, cautious yet outgoing. If she wants something, she will go get it. She also has a heart of gold and reaches out to every friend in need.

She agrees to marry the boy her Dad selects, but when love happens she follows her heart. She has the courage to challenge her dad, and the warmth to care for him. Kavya is truly loveable.

Synopsis
When Kavya Pratap Singh, a chirpy, yet fiesty girl from Ambala, decides to make a trip to Delhi for her marriage shopping, she meets a young, carefree Delhi lad, Humpty Sharma. Humpty’s father is the owner of a campus bookstore, where Humpty and his two best friends, Shonty and Poplu, have grown up together and which remains their hangout spot even now. Kavya is unattainable for Humpty initially, which makes her even more endearing to him. But being a Delhi boy, he is not the one to give up so easily. With some help from his two best friends, he finds out all about her and through an interesting turn of events (including a ploy to save Kavya’s friend Gurpreet’s marriage), they start growing closer to each other.

The more time they spend with each other, their love hate banter grows, but their chemistry is apparent. They are both different, yet very similar as people. They are young, fiesty and carefree, and its the spurge of life which attracts them to each other.

As per plan, once Kavya’s trip ends, she heads back to Ambala, knowing very well that her father, the very strict, yet loving Mr. Singh, would never accept her love for Humpty. But even though they both weren’t looking for love, love happened. So Humpty, accompanied by his two friends, decides to go get Kavya.

That’s the beginning of a journey for him that he wouldn’t have imagined undertaking even in the wildest of his dreams. Humpty, against all odds, decides to convince Kavya’s family to agree to his alliance with her. How he does this and if he succeeds in his mission forms the rest of the story.

Movie Preview: Filmistaan (2014)

In Mumbai, affable Bollywood buff and wanna-be-actor Sunny, who works as an assistant director, fantasizes on becoming a heart-throb star. However, at every audition he is summarily thrown out. Undeterred, he goes with an American crew to remote areas in Rajasthan to work on a documentary. One day an Islamic terrorist group kidnaps him for the American crew-member. Sunny finds himself on enemy border amidst guns and pathani-clad guards, who decide to keep him hostage until they locate their original target. The house In which he is confined belongs to a Pakistani, whose trade stems from pirated Hindi films, which he brings back every time he crosses the border. Soon, the two factions realize that they share a human and cultural bond. The film shows how cinema can be the universal panacea for co-existence.

Written & directed by Nitin Kakkar, the movie is set for 6th June, 2014 nationwide release across India.

Synopsis:

A young, beautiful and rich girl, Dimpy Singh (Madalsa Sharma), approaches Samrat Tilakdhari (Rajeev Khandelwal), a private investigator, with a strange case. Their garden got ruined for reasons that appear natural but are not known; leading horticulturists have examined the fading plants but they have not been able to identify the probable reason. Further, her father’s favorite horse died; once again the reason for the pre-mature death remains a mystery. That’s not the end; Dimpy’s father Mahendra Pratap Singh (Girish Karnad), otherwise a very strong and balanced man, has been experiencing deteriorating health. All these aspects when combined makes the case sound weird and that grabs the attention of Samrat.

Samrat along with his assistant friend, Chakradhar Pandey (Gopal Datt), visits the huge estate of Mahendra Pratap Singh. As he starts investigating, he discovers lots of mysterious facts. The story progresses when a murder takes place in the house, which leads to a series of events, complicating things for Samrat. Every character around seems to be hiding something. How will Samrat unfold the mysteries? Will there be more mysteries while he is investigating? Will the case be solved?

Movie Review: Bobby Jasoos (2014)

Bobby [Vidya Balan] hails from a modest neighbourhood of Hyderabad. Her parents [Rajendra Gupta, Supriya Pathak] are keen she gets married, but Bobby is keen to chase her dreams of becoming a detective. She offers to work for a leading detective agency, but when things don’t work out, she starts her own detective agency — Bobby Jasoos P. Ltd.

Slowly but surely, the cases start coming in, but the cases are trivial and don’t interest her. The story takes a turn when Anees Khan [Kiran Kumar] offers Bobby to trace some missing people. Glad that she has made a beginning, Bobby grabs the offer instantly, but as she starts the investigations, she realizes something is amiss…

Unlike the protagonists of MR JOE B. CARVALHO and SAMRAT & CO., who ended up looking like a parody of Sherlock Holmes, first-time director Samar Shaikh and writer Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh ensure they instill anxiety, the feeling of uneasiness and make the spectator impatient as the drama unfolds. Concurrently, the element of mystery is wonderfully intertwined in the narrative, which draws the audience into the world of Bobby and the case she decides to take up. The twists and turns that ensue — when Bobby realizes that this case is not as plain sailing as it appears to be — involve the spectators completely, also because the writer and director make sure the film doesn’t follow the stereotypical formula.

Movie Preview: Warning (2013)

The story is about a gang of friends getting together to have some fun and what turns out to be something they never expected and which is extremely horrendous. The movie is basically a blatant rip-off of the Hollywood thriller ‘Open Sea 2′ and maybe would’ve looked good if the cast worked on their acting instead of showing off their chiseled bodies. The movie starts with a guy reminiscing about his school times, decides to contact his friends and plan a sea adventure. And then we see the whole group re-uniting at Tanveer’s (Santosh Barmola) yacht in Fiji. Everyone looks very elated with the trip until they realize none of them remembered to lower the ladder from the yacht, which is the only way to get back onto the yacht. And soon the conditions get worse and their sea adventure becomes a survival test. The first half is a little tolerable but the second half is simply made for a good sleep. The 3D format of the film is terrible and only adds to the misery. This thriller is better left alone and may it drift into the unforgiving world of pirated DVDs. But if you really need to go to the cinemas then any other movie would atleast guarantee you a ‘happy ending’. So, take a hint from the title of the film and you’re at your own risk!
