Amitabh Bachchan: Enjoy the Role of a Crusader on KBC

Kaun Banega Crorepati 8 is all set to start in August on Sony and the show's host and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says that he derives great satisfaction if he succeeds in bringing a positive change in a participant's life through the show.

"Yes, I do," Big B said when asked if he enjoys the role of a crusader-anchor on KBC. (Also read: Amitabh Bachchan on Yudh, Television and Co-Star Sarika)

"There are many contestants that come to the game show with great aspirations and expectations and if through the show and the game, we can give them an opportunity to become a game-changer in their life, it gives all of us great satisfaction," he said.

"Kyunki yahan sirf paise hi nahin, dil bhi jeete jaate hain," added the 71-year-old who bowls over the contestants with his compassion and warmth.

Mr Bachchan, who has been associated with the show since its inception, took a break in 2007 and Shah Rukh Khan stepped into his shows and hosted KBC 3. (Also read: R Balki's Films Have Been Out of the Ordinary and Challenging: Amitabh Bachchan)

How will the new season be different from the earlier seasons?

"KBC starts in August and preparations are on for that as well, and it would not be prudent of me to disclose just yet what the changes are. But suffice to say that the basic format shall obviously remain the same. The dresses will project the difference," he said.

Kapil Sharma Out of Yash Raj Films' Bank Chor

Comedian Kapil Sharma, who was slated to make his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films' Bank Chor, is now out of the project, the production house revealed via an official statement on July 3. It is a mutual decision.

The film will now go on floor without Kapil, whose popularity soared high following the success of his stand-up comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil.

"We will look forward to working together in future when the time is right," Ashish Patil, business and creative head, Youth Films, Talent Management and Brand Partnerships at YRF, said in the statement. (Also Read: Kapil's interview)

Earlier, there was news that Kapil was caught in a quandary over how to balance his show and film. But it is not clear why Kapil is no longer a part of Bank Chor which is a comedy film.

The film tells the story of three men trying to rob a bank, how they choose the wrong day for the robbery, and how they're inadvertently caught in the cross fire between cops, industrialists and corrupt politicians.

Produced by Ashish Patil, the project will be helmed by Bumpy.

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has decided to come clean about her romance with actor Harman Baweja a day after she stonewalled questions from the press saying she would be attending the IIFA awards alone and that she was waiting for "an eligible bachelor." John married his fiancee Priya Runchal in a secret wedding last month.

Sanjay Dutt gets another extension in parole

Actor Sanjay Dutt's parole has been extended by another 30 days. The actor has been out of jail on parole due to his wife Maanayata's illness for the last two months. Pune Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh confirmed saying, "the extension has been given to the actor after the police submitted a medical report of his wife Maanayata Dutt, who is not well and is under treatment." He however added, "after this there will be no more extension." Days after actor Sanjay Dutt asked for a further extension on his parole citing his wife Maanayata's illness, Dutt had initially requested for a further one-month extension on his parole. Sanjay Dutt came out on parole on December 21, 2013. He was supposed to go back into Yerawada jail on January 21, but his parole was extended to February 21. He then asked for a further extension to be by his wife's side. According to rules, a convict gets a maximum of 90-days parole, of which Sanjay Dutt has finished 60 days.

With the 3D version of Solay released, fans of the 1975 mega movie are in for another treat as the film's infamous bandit, Gabbar Singh, will be recreat in a graphic novel. Conceptualised by Sholay Media and entertainment in partnership with Graphic India,the book titled Gabbar will go on sale later this month The graphic novel explores Gabber's past and narrates a "tragic and twisted story of revenge and redemption that turned an ordinary boy into India's most famous and feared villain". "India's greatest and most frequently quoted villqin.Gabbar Singh, will finally have his own comic book," said Sharad Devarajan, co-founder and CEO of Graphic India. In addition to the book, a motion comic episodic series of the story will be released in English and Hindi across mobile devices along with Sholay: The Graphic Novel, touted to be the official graphic novel adaptation of the original movie.

Shah Rukh Khan offers help to Kapil Sharma after his show set was damaged

Popular comedian Kapil Sharma has been overwhelmed at being offered help from legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and superstar Shah Rukh Khan after his show set was damaged in a fire. A massive fire had broken out recently on the sets of hit show 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' at Goregaon Film city. However, there were no casualties in the mishap. The show, aired on Colors channel, is hosted by Kapil and often sees Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh, Rohit Shetty, Deepika Padukone, Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Anil Kapoor and others using the platform to promote their upcoming films. "I got a call from Lataji and she asked if I need any kind of help, whether monetary or anything. She asked what can I do for you... Her call was a big thing," Kapil said. "Also Shah Rukh Khan, Rohit Shetty and lot of people from the industry called me and said 'hum tumhare saath hai, batao kitne din mein set khada karna hai' (we are with you, tell in how many days the set has to be put up). The industry is like a family," he said. Kapil says the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as investigation is still on. "We will come to know the exact loss... The figures only after the police verification," he said. He rubbished rumours of a conspiracy behind the fire. Kapil felt disappointed as he was unable to shoot with singer Sonu Nigam due to mishap. "We were even planning to shoot with Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan for the promotion of their forthcoming films. But unfortunately due to the tragedy, we are trying to work out things," he said. However, Kapil is quite happy that people are loving his show and he hopes it to continue. Two episodes supposed to be aired on this weekend have already been shot. But, for the upcoming episodes they will be shooting on the sets of 'Bigg Boss' show.

Will Asif Azim add some spice to the show?: Bigg Boss 7

Asif entered the Bigg Boss house yesterday as the first wild card entry of this season So we witnessed a dramatic wild card entry in yesterday’s episode of Bigg Boss 7 with supermodel Asif Azim of Bangaldeshi origin coming out of the swimming pool wearing nothing but only small black trunks. We are sure that after looking at him, all the gals in the house must have gone ooh la la. But will Asif add some zing to the show? We don’t know yet but we surely know about what happened when Asif entered the mad cap house. Tonight’s episode will mark the first day for Asif in the Bigg Boss house and he will be seen mingling with the other inmates. To make Asif familiar with other members of the house, Bigg Boss will give a task to the housemates where every member in the house has to tag the other housemate on the basis of characteristics written on a card. Later, the person who has been tagged needs to guess the name of the housemate who gave him/her that tag. Bigg Boss will give the responsibility to Tanishaa to lead this session and ensure that everybody read about their name tags. While the session will be in full swing, it will get more interesting when Kamya will tag Gauahar as jhoothi (liar). Now Gauhar is not from those people who will get insulted without saying anything, right? She will question Kamya about the reason for tagging her as a jhoothi. Kamya will remind her about the argument over the swap nomination which is why she called her a liar. Gauahar will not appreciate Kamya’s behavior. However, Tanishaa will act as the peacemaker and will take the session ahead. Now, we don’t know about Asif but Kamya and Gauhar are surely adding a lot of spice to the show.

Tanishaa wins against Armaan Later in the day, Bigg Boss calls Asif in the confession room and asks him to nominate two Jannat wasis who are capable of taking on the role of the captain. Based on his interaction with the housemates, Asif announces the Tanishaa and Armaan’s names. Unlike last week, Bigg Boss allows the Jahannum-ites to choose a captain through a ballet system. Unfortunately for Armaan, Tanishaa gets the maximum votes and becomes the captain for the second consecutive time. The new luxury budget In the afternoon, the housemates get together to discuss the luxury budget. Bigg Boss announces that only hell mates are allowed to choose their needs. In addition to that, they have a right to demand for the things that they have chosen in the luxury budget at any given time in the day. In the evening, Bigg Boss asks the heaven-mates to make a wish at the wishing wall. Kamya Punjabi cries Kamya is called in the confession room by Bigg Boss to share her feelings regarding the show down she had with Gauhar. Kamya explains that Gauhar had played politics and that is bothering her. She later bursts out into tears remembering her daughter. Bigg Boss assures her that her daughter is fine and doing great. 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' will be shot on 'Bigg Boss' sets

Ever since news about fire on the sets of Kapil Sharma's show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' broke, everyone has been wondering about the new location where the shooting will take place. Well, here's the answer! According to some reliable sources we hear, that the shooting of the comedy show will now take place on the sets of Bigg Boss 7's Weekend Ka Wow. Sources inform that the Channel (Colors) and the production team of Comedy Nights with Kapil produced by K9 (Kapil Sharma Productions) has been looking out for an alternative set to shoot the upcoming episodes of the comedy show and finally they have decided to shoot on Bigg Boss sets located at Lonavla. When contacted, Ali Asgar who plays Dadi on the show confirmed, "We will be shooting the upcoming episodes of our show on Bigg Boss' sets. Whatever happened was unfortunate but the show must go on and we are ready to bring smiles on the faces of the audiences' once again." On being asked about Kapil, Ali said, "Kapil is a very brave man, he knows he's the captain of the ship and I am sure he will come out of these difficult times. God has been very kind to show us the path and, by his grace, fortunately no one got injured in the mishap." When asked will they now modify the script keeping the new set in mind, the actor said, "I have no clarity on this. As of now, I only know that we will be shooting on the Bigg Boss sets."

Vipul Roy is the new lead in FIR

After a rigorous hunt for the new male lead, actress Kavita Kaushik — the feisty cop Chandramukhi Chautala — will finally have a guy opposite her in comedy show, FIR. The role has been bagged by actor Vipul Roy. Previously, it was Aamir Ali, who played male lead Bajrang Pandey. Coming back to Vipul; the actor has featured in shows like Salaam Zindagi and suspense-thriller Chehra. He later moved on to hosting shows and anchored Zee Ghar Ghar Mein and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. What followed for the actor was lot of travelling and events abroad. However, he is back now and all geared up to don the khakhi. Says a source associated with the show, "A lot of actors including Shaleen Bhanot had auditioned for the part but the role has finally gone to Vipul. It will be a challenge for him to make his mark amid the actors, who have already established themselves. He will start shooting from the first week of September." When contacted, Vipul refused to comment.

I’m proud to be Sushant's girlfriend: Ankita Lokhande

It's the case of finding real love while working in the reel world. And who could say it better than TV starlet Ankita Lokhande. On the sets of DID Super Moms, where the cast of Shuddh Desi Romance were present to promote their upcoming film, a surprise was in store for Sushant Singh Rajput the male lead of the film. The content team of ZEE TV had prepared a video tape for Sushant where they had taken bytes of all the prominent cast of Pavitra Rishta. Though he was touched by the gesture and all the sweet things that his ex co-stars said about him, what he didn't expect was a confession of love from his long term girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. Ankita in her video proclaims her eternal love for him in front of the world and says, "I am proud to be your girlfriend and the kind of chemistry I share with you, I can't have that with anyone else". An overwhelmed Ankita recollected the last scene they had shot together in which Sushant hugs Ankita as they part ways. She adds that at that point the moment they shared was real. They hugged as they knew this was it. The tears they cried at that time were not a by product of any glycerine but the feelings they had for each other. A visibly touched Sushant almost had tears in his eyes and was too overwhelmed to say anything. Sushant's co actors of Shuddh Desi Romance, Parineeti Chopra and Vani had a whale of a time with the super moms on the Sets of DID. While Parineeti didn't hesitate to sing the title track of Shuddh Desi Romance with contestant Zoya, Sushant and Vani were enthusiastic enough to dance while she sang. Tough to get different roles on TV: Delnaaz Irani

Actress Delnaaz Irani, known for her innocent and cute roles in films and television, feels the audience has accepted her in such characters. The actress, who has been part of shows like "Yes Boss" and " Kya Huaa Tera Vaada", doesn't feel that her fans would like to see her in anything different and she is not complaining. "There is a larger audience who make a image for an actor. They have seen me in that image and they like me in that. I don't think they would want me to do something different. I am okay with that, as long as audience likes me and it works for me," Delnaaz told IANS. She further added that she would not like to take a chance and do something which people don't like her in. However, she is open to good offers. "I don't want to do something which people don't like me in. It is about who will take a chance and risk. If some producer wants to take a chance and give me something different, then he can," she said. Talking about newcomers coming into the industry, she said it tough to bag different roles. "With the kind of competition which exists today, it is tough to get a different role or a different character every time. But I am okay with playing similar roles, if the audience likes me in it," she said. But the actress has played a negative character in her play, " See No Evil, Hear no evil, Speak No Evil and Do No evil" "I am playing shades of grey in this play. It's an English play. I am playing a different role in that," she said. Irani said that she likes to keep all three mediums of acting; films, television and theatre alive. "After one daily and a play, I want to do more movies. I like to keep all my three mediums alive. I have had a trend of doing at least two plays over the year. I have one or two shows on TV. I am hoping for more films to happen," said Delnaaz, who shared screen space with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in 2003 movie " Kal Ho Naa Ho". The actress is currently seen in television show " Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara"

Hosting KBC nerve-wracking for Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has hosted game show " Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC) five times but he still finds it nerve-wracking. Except for the third edition, which was hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh has been seen on the quizmaster's seat. He has also shot three to four episodes of the seventh season of the show based on international quiz show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". But the 70-year-old says he still feels nervous. "I do get nervous. Whether it is a press meet or work. It's nerve-wracking. I disagree that just because you are a professional you are not going to get nervous," Amitabh told reporters here during press conference held for launch of seventh season of KBC. Before KBC's recordings started earlier this week, Bachchan had even twitted about feeling jitters in stomach. The game show will be aired three times a week starting Sep 6.

Thanks to 'Balika Vadhu', I can act: Shashank Vyas

TV actor Shashank Vyas, who has successfully completed a three-year journey on "Balika Vadhu", credits the popular series for making him confident about his acting ability. The actor, who plays the key role of Jagdish aka Jagya in the Colors' show, says he was nervous and unsure of his acting skills when he stepped into the show in 2010. "Now I can say I can act! When I started my journey, I was nervous. I was worried about how I will cope up. Now I am quite confident of myself and of the show as well," Shashank told IANS. He says "Balika Vadhu" has been a learning experience. "It feels good to know how much people like the show after three years also. I am working with senior actors and working with them is a wonderful experience. I see my (acting) graph rising now," he said. However, he admits that his real challenge will only come after "Balika Vadhu". "My next journey will decide my career. This is my debut show and people accepted what I played. In my next show, it will be a challenge for me as an actor," he said. Shashank entered the social issue-based show when it took a leap in July 2010. Most TV shows are being pulled off air barely after a few months of their launch, but in the case of "Balika Vadhu", its story has made it a success, says the actor. "As far as daily soaps are concerned, writing is the main thing. There are so many brilliant actors, but if the work on paper is not good, you can't do anything," he said.

Shahid, Priyanka, Big B on Indian Idol Junior finale

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will announce the winner of the first edition of singing reality show "Indian Idol Junior" and hand over the trophy. The star-studded finale is Sep 1 and "Zanjeer" stars Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan Teja will also be seen there. Shahid Kapoor too will entertain the audience with his presence while promoting his upcoming film "Phata Poster Nikla Hero". Apart from the performances by the top finalists -- Nirvesh Dave, Debanjana Karmarkar, Anmol Jaiswal and Anjana Padmanabhan, there will be other entertaining acts too. While the judges -- singer Shreya Ghoshal, and composer duo Vishal-Shekhar -- will belt out some hit numbers, Karan Wahi, who co-hosts the show with Mandira Bedi, will jive to the beats of "Balam pichkari". "Indian Idol Junior" started June 1.

Sonu Nigam will be seen in the opening act of "Kaun Banega Crorepati"

Singer Sonu Nigam will be seen with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the opening act of the seventh edition of game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC). Sonu, 40, will belt out some hit numbers while Big B will jive to its beats. "With the incomparable Sonu Nigam and the fluidity of his voice...still trying desperately to shake that b**ty," Big B posted on his blog. Except for the third season, which was hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh has been the quiz master of the show since the beginning, but is still nervous about the premiere episode of the seventh season. "Setting up for the opening of KBC on September 6, the 7th season, and the excitement and the nervousness mounts, but giving it all that it deserves tasseled shoes and all," he posted. The show, based on international quiz show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", first went on air in 2000.
